The first North Sea Bandit Regatta for 2017 saw a great turnout, lots of spectators, and some fun racing. This was the first Bandit Regatta and first series of races for The North Sea, for the new year. We had a nice turnout of sailors in today’s fleet with a majority of seven Bandit IFs and one Bandit 60. The sims themselves were well behaved as we only had two DNFs to a sim crossing on the day. The spectators came out cheering for our sailors along the usual spots in the Eden Alabtros, Eden Puffin, Breadnut, and Ziziphus regions.

Today’s winner was Jackson (Jacquimo Resident), with Red (RedHeadJO Resident) second, and Carlota (Carlota Dufaux) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.
The results for race 2 are presented in class race format as the race was entirely Bandit IFs and handicap tabulation is not necessary.
Zandrer (Zandrer Resident) and Moon (moonglownight Resident) both finished tied with 12 points. Rule A8.1 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
“If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.“
|Skipper||Best Finish||Next Best Finish|
With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Zandrer’s favor with having a fifth place finish over Moon’s sixth place finish as his best.
We have a superb paint supplied by Ali Vultee, see her paint here: Ali’s Boat Paint Shop to the first place overall winner.
