Slightly rough seas and some great racing were on display during this weeks North Sea Bandit Regatta. The sims where a bit rough during the first race, as two DNF’s were recorded due to crashes on sim crossings. This weeks fleet was comprised of a majority of seven Bandit IF’s. Two Bandit 25’s and a Bandit 60 made up the remainder of the fleet.

The first race, on North Sea Olympic Course (Long), saw a near perfect start from Alexandre, in his Bandit IF, who crossed the start line at 00:00:01. Stu, with Donna in his Bandit IF, was right on Alexandre’s stern, crossing at 00:00:03. John, in his Bandit 60, was next across at 00:00:14 with Carlota, in her Bandit IF, right behind at 00:00:18. Ultra, in his Bandit IF, was next at 00:00:25 followed by Jackson, in his Bandit IF, at 00:00:28. Neil, in his Bandit IF, followed at 00:00:58, with Gail, in her Bandit 25, next at 00:01:39, and finally Burton, with Pesha in his Bandit 25, at 00:04:15. Alexandre paced the fleet, while Stu, with Donna, held on right behind. Carlota, Jackson, and Neil, all in Bandit IF’s, made moves to pass John, in his Bandit 60, and wound up in the middle of the fleet. Burton, with Pesha took up position at the rear of the fleet. Ultra and Gail were both casualties to a bad sim crossing that caused them both to crash and record DNF”s. Alexandre increased his lead and took line honors, finishing first, with Stu crossing next. Carlota, Jackson, Neil, John, and Burton all followed next.

The second race, on North Sea Trapezoid, saw another great start from Alexandre, in his Bandit IF, crossing the start line at 00:00:03. Jackson, in his Bandit IF, was right on Alexandre’s stern, crossing at 00:00:04. Stu, with Donna in his Bandit IF, was next to start at 00:00:13, followed by Carlota, in her Bandit IF, at 00:00:14. Ultra, in his Bandit IF, was next at 00:0025, followed by John, in his Bandit 60, at 00:00:38, and Neil, in his Bandit IF, at 00:00:52. Susi, in her Bandit IF, was next across at 00:01:20, followed by Burton, with Pesha in his Bandit 25, at 00:01:41, and Gail, in her Bandit 25, at 00:01:50. Alexandre once again paced the fleet for the entirety of the race. Jackson, feel back slightly as both Utlra and Gail made moves to pass him. Stu, with Donna, fell back slightly as well, taking up position behind John. The rear of the fleet held with Neil, Susi, and Burton, with Pesha, all holding on. Carlota unfortunately crashed and recorded a DNF. Alexandre crossed first to take line honors, with Ultra crossing second. Gail came in across third, with Jackson, John, Stu with Donna, Neil, Susi, and finally Burton with Pesha, all crossing.

Today’s winner was Alexandre (ramuf Resident), with Stu (stuart1524 Resident) second, and Jackson (Jacquimo Resident) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.

Race Note:
Stu (stuart1524 Resident) and Jackson (Jacquimo Resident) both finished tied with 5 points. Rule A8.1 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.

Skipper Best Finish Next Best Finish
stuart1524 Resident 2 5
Jacquimo Resident 3 4

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Stu’s favor with having a second place finish over Jackson’s third place finish as his best.
