This weeks Blue Lagoon Marina Regatta saw some great sim weather, fun racing, and even the first race, in The North Sea that is, The Mesh Shop’s Ushuaia. We only had one crash, in the second race, and that wasn’t do to the sims, so everyone finished unscathed from the seas. The Ushuaia, which was just released last Friday, has been given a handicap of 0.69, seen on our North Sea Handicap Table, appeared for it’s first races in The North Sea.
The small boat fleet was made up of four Bandit IF’s, two Bandit 25’s, two Nacra 17’s, a Melges-24, a Trudeau Francois Jacques, a Flying Shadow, a Laser One, and a Dolphin Moth. Racing was exciting in the IF pack, as Red, Carlota, Rulette, and Gryfin all kept things tight throughout the race, with Red and Carlota pulling out ahead towards the end. The Nacra 17’s, Melges-24 and Flying Shadow also kept things tight with Arya, Cole, Lucy, and Beane all sticking close till the finish.
The big boat fleet was made up of a majority of One Design 65’s with five, and the remainder comprising three Ushuaia’s, their first appearance here, a Pacha 110, an ACA33, and a Trudeau 12 Metre. Racing was exciting among the OD-65’s as ViV, Beane and Arya all battled it out and exchanged positions several times, until the end when ViV ultimately finished ahead.
