Great sailing weather, with a nice turn out, were on hand for this weeks Bandit Regatta, in The North Sea. This weeks fleet was made up of two bandit IF’s, a Bandit 25, a Bandit 55, and a Bandit 60. We also had BurrWolf joining us for his first race ever, well done to you.
In the first race, NS-SOL-13A, racing was tight between the IF pack and the lone Bandit 25, with Carlota, Alexandre, and Rosie all exchanging the lead, until Alexandre unfortunately crashed in Muskmelon and his IF was left circling without a skipper. Rosie ultimately pulled ahead to take line honers. BurrWolf, racing in his first race ever, was over the start line early, but corrected well, came back around and ran the course to the finish.
In the second race, NS-SOL-13B, racing was again tight among the IF pack and the lone Bandit 25, with Carlota and Alexandre ahead of, but not by much, Rosie in her Bandit 25. Rosie wound up finally passing both, along the leg from the island in Sloe to the southern tip of the island in Ziziphus, and finished again first across the line.

Did Not Finish (DNF) = number of finish +1)
Did Not Start (DNS) = number of start +1)
Today’s winner was Carlota, with BurrWolf second, and Rosie in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate as well as the SLCG who helped perform race duties.
Rosie and Jamie both finished tied with 7 points. Rule A8.1 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
“If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.“
|Skipper||Best Finish||Next Best Finish|
With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Rosie’s favor with having a second place finish over Jamie’s third place finish as his best.
